On May 28th, 2008 a new product family called Citrix Branch Repeater was jointly announced by Microsoft and Citrix. Citrix Branch Repeater, a comprehensive branch solution, can optimize application delivery from Citrix Delivery Center and beyond, while simultaneously providing key native Windows® branch infrastructure services.
Citrix Branch Repeater debuts as the first "branch office in a box" combining Citrix WAN optimization, Microsoft Windows Server and innovative "app staging" technologies into one simple-to-install appliance. This new product integrates within the Citrix Delivery Center product family with the ability to stage applications at the branch office by pre-positioning XenApp "Streamed Application" profiles. Branch Repeater includes important Windows features for branch offices including Microsoft Windows file service, Microsoft Distributed File Services (DFS), and Microsoft ISA Web caching. The result is that Branch Repeater can accelerate, for branch users, initial delivery and updates of Citrix XenApp streamed applications, as well as accelerate delivery of web content.
